This dashboard is produced on a regular basis by Insight Warehouse to illustrate the changes happening in the database of recorded legal speed limits. Certain filters have been applied to the data to remove private roads or roads with limited access. The dashboard allows viewers to review changes on a period-by-period basis for individual local authorities. These periods reflect the changes made by Insight Warehouse which may not align with the period in which the speed limit changed. It is therefore only a guide to the current situation. Road lengths may increase or decreases based on the mapping information provided by our partners and may reflect changes in the classification of roads rather than the building of new ones. For example, lengths of 60mph roads have reduced in our dataset due to better mapping and classification of private tracks. This data may be used in publications or reports, including news articles, but cannot be used in commercial products or solutions.
