Why the roads around a home matter
Most journeys start and finish at home, so the roads near where a car is kept make up a large part of its exposure. A postcode surrounded by 20 mph residential streets has a very different road environment to one on the edge of a town with fast rural roads all around it.
Our Neighbourhood Speed Limit Profiles describe the local environment in a consistent way for every postcode, so pricing teams can test it alongside the area factors they already use.
Built from measured road data
Every figure comes from the speed limit on each road link in SpeedMap, not from a modelled estimate.
Weighted by road length
Percentages are based on kilometres of road at each limit, although we deliberately exclude 70mph roads as these may just pass nearby without offering access.
Area level
Our current product looks just at the local area, our roadmap includes weighted values within a 5km radius.

The sample map above shows how we calculate road lengths by area in our current product. We provide data matched to these neighbourhoods (as definited by official Government statistics) for each postcode. The table below is what clients receive.

Northern Ireland is not currently included in our product although our speed limit maps contain the data - contact us if this is a requirement..
Wider area view
We supply lookups for each postcode to the associated neighbourhood allowing clients to review speed limits in adjacent areas.
Our next version, relased in Q4 2026, will deliver weighted averages in a 5km radius of the individual postcode.

Pricing
Starting at £5,000 per annum, our pricing model is based on the number of policies covered, not the number of quotes. Our model is based on per 100,000 policies, scaling based on the size of your business.
